When Jack Warner was casting the movie My Fair Lady, Julie Andrews, who played the original Eliza Doolittle on Broadway, was overlook for the part, that was given to Audrey Hepburn.

That made her available to accept Mr. Disney’s invitation to play Mary Poppins.

At the 22nd Golden Globes, when she won the best actress award (she was up against Audrey for My Fair Lady), she had her sweet revenge.

how to shade, with class.

Julie Andrews is the queen of everything

Maslany has to shoot some of her most challenging scenes opposite a tennis ball or a mark on a wall. “I can’t look down by an inch or else the eyeline’s off, and I’m looking at my nose, or I’ve put a glass of water through my face. It’s specific, technical things that I’m keeping track of. And that I have to be present the same way that I would be if there was an actor next to me. Except now I have to imagine the actor next to me.”

And what did ‘being good’ ever get her?
Regina’s character development is just so incredible on OUAT. Now, we are just waiting for her full redemption story, as well as waiting to see how Henry and Emma tie into it.

Neither goodness nor evil has ever led to happiness and that’s part of what’s so tragic about her. She knows what being good gets her and she knows what being evil gets her and half the time it doesn’t make a bit of difference to the amount of pain she’s subjected to.

Isn’t anyone gonna talk about how when she says “I’ll be good” here what she’s really saying is “I’ll be obedient”?

Okay let’s seriously talk about this.
Because these are the things I think EVERY time someone thinks Regina should just be “good” and do the right thing.
Regina…as pure & kind & loving as she was when she was young, did she have any idea what good really was? I’m sure Henry tried to teach her better, Regina clearly had a mind of her own. But Cora taught Regina being good was obeying Cora…we also know that when she tries to be good, it leads to pain for her. When she tries to gain her freedom, it leads to more pain. When she takes the dark path Rumple sets her on, it leads to pain. It doesn’t matter how good, evil, neutral, what she does to be “enough” for someone - they all tell her she isn’t. She isn’t good enough, she isn’t talented enough, she isn’t loved enough, she isn’t driven enough, her dreams aren’t enough, being herself isn’t enough.
Regina tried being good and she never got anywhere. So Regina changed (due to all of her experiences & influences & manipulations) and became “evil.” That still didn’t work. She casts the curse and takes everyone to a new land, obviously still doesn’t work. Regina tries to change (and then does change) and still she isn’t good enough.
And no one has ever tried to be good enough for her, but she tried for Cora, Henry Sr, Leopold, Snow, Henry, Emma, etc. No one who was supposed to care for her & love her got to know her, let her be herself or tried to help her in a way she actually needed.
AND I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW WHY THE FUCK PEOPLE JUST EXPECT HER TO BE GOOD?! You can’t tell me her concept of good/evil isn’t a little skewed, and I think her beliefs have had a few shifts & changes. But Regina learned very different life lessons than the “good” guys and that is definitely a major influence on her character, beliefs & actions.

Also, when you consider the examples she had in her life - her mother was evil but powerful, her father was kind and loving but a doormat, Daniel was kind and loving but ended up dead…

All “being good” ever got Regina was abused. She is no longer good, and she certainly isn’t evil. She has become wise. Wise enough to discern what the correct course of action is at any given moment. Where, for Regina, correct means that which protects the people she loves. She has also become wiser at that too.
Good isn’t all that it is cracked up to be, and the show does an excellent job of showing that. Snow is “good” but her good gets people hurt. Charming is good, but his good caused him to renege on an agreement which resulted in a war and his mother’s death. The dwarves are good too, but their kind of good makes me want to kick in that their self righteous.teeth. Don’t even get me started on the Blue Fairy. Her brand of good looks a whole lot like evil to me.

That comment way up there about good=obedient is exactly on point. Cora even says, right in this scene, something like “I’ll stop using magic when you start being an obedient daughter.”
Compliance and passivity are the things Regina struggled against. It’s what was expected, and no, being a “good girl” does not mean you’ll suddenly be free of abuse. Although, it’s exactly what abusers want their victims to think.
When Regina attempted to assert herself she was beaten down, her fiance brutally murdered. Being assertive didn’t work for her either, in her own experiences. When she finally displayed power it was in mimicry of her mother. That’s partly who the Evil Queen is: a blend of an internalized self-abuser and her sincere striving for autonomy.
